Constant D.L. Artz
Parijs 1870 - 1951 Soest
De kunstschilder Constant Artz werd in 1870 in Parijs geboren. Hij is vooral bekend geworden om zijn ontelbare watergezichten met eenden. Willem Maris was hierbij zijn grote voorbeeld. Het eendenmotief gaf hij in steeds weer andere variaties weer. Met vlotte toets en sterke lichtwerking gaf hij, als een bijzonder knap observeerder van de natuur, gedetailleerd eendenfamilies in hun natuurlijke omgeving weer.
Tevens was Constant Artz een goed aquarellist. En naast eenden heeft hij ook het Hollandse landschap met vaarten, wilgen en molens en zelfs een enkel stadsgezicht geschilderd. Constant Artz was de zoon van de Haagse School-schilder D.A.C. Artz. Constant Artz overleed in 1951 in Nederland, in Soest.
Werk van deze kunstschilder is in bezit van diverse musea.
